WRAP Certified Apparel Factories in Turkey
WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) is the largest independent factory certification for apparel and footwear ethical production. It certifies the facility (not the product) on 12 principles covering labor, workplace, environment and customs. Common requirement for US retail buyers, particularly mid-market and big-box.
Frequently asked questions
What does a WRAP Platinum certificate mean?
Three consecutive years of Gold-level audits (no major non-conformities). Platinum factories audit every two years instead of yearly. Gold is the entry-level pass; Silver is conditional.
Is WRAP required for selling to US retailers?
Not legally, but Walmart, Target, JCPenney and many private-label brands list WRAP (or equivalent SA8000/SLCP) as a vendor requirement. Without it, buyer onboarding stalls.
Does WRAP cover environmental criteria?
Lightly - one of the 12 principles covers environmental compliance with local regulations. For deeper environmental certification look at Higg FEM, Bluesign or ZDHC.
How long is the WRAP audit process?
3-6 months from application to certification: self-assessment, on-site audit (1-3 days), corrective action plan period, follow-up. Re-audit annually unless Platinum.
What is the cost of WRAP certification for a Turkish factory?
Application fee 1,295 USD, plus audit firm fees of 1,500-3,500 EUR depending on factory size and visit length. Re-audit costs are similar each year.
