BSCI Audited Garment Factories in Turkey
amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) audits factories against an 11-point Code of Conduct: living wages, no forced or child labor, safe working conditions, freedom of association, and environmental basics. A BSCI 'A' or 'B' rating is the entry ticket for selling into European retail chains.
Frequently asked questions
What does a BSCI audit rating mean?
A (outstanding), B (good), C (acceptable), D (needs improvement), E (unacceptable). Most European retailers require A or B; C usually triggers a follow-up audit within 12 months.
How often is BSCI re-audited?
Full re-audit every 2 years for A and B ratings; annually for C; follow-up within 12 months for D. Unannounced surprise audits are also possible.
Who pays for BSCI audits in Turkey?
The factory pays the audit firm (Intertek, SGS, Bureau Veritas, TUV). Typical cost: 1,500-3,500 EUR per audit cycle. Buyers receive the rating report but not the underlying findings unless the factory shares them.
Is BSCI the same as SA8000?
No. SA8000 is a stricter certifiable standard with annual surveillance audits. BSCI is an audit framework whose 'A' rating roughly aligns with SA8000 but does not equal it.
Can I get a copy of the BSCI audit report?
Only via the factory's amfori platform invitation. Ask for read-only RSP (Responsible Sourcing Profile) access during onboarding; most Turkish suppliers grant it for legitimate buyer accounts.
